Before ordering a German Commercial Register extract, it is important to know why you need the document and where it will be submitted. Some banks, public authorities and other organisations may accept a standard electronic extract, while others may require an official extract or a document with an apostille. It is therefore useful to check the requirements of the receiving organisation before placing your order.
An official Commercial Register extract (Amtlicher Ausdruck) can also be ordered remotely. Depending on the required format and procedure, an official extract may be provided electronically with the required electronic authentication or as a paper document. If an apostille or another form of authentication is required, additional processing and physical delivery may be necessary.
A standard non-official extract can be ordered and delivered entirely online. Through our service, an available electronic extract can usually be sent by email shortly after the order is placed. We can obtain documents for German companies and registered businesses such as GmbH, UG, AG, KG, OHG and e.K., as well as registered German branches of foreign companies. If required, you can also order a separate shareholder list, which contains information that is not normally shown in a standard GmbH Commercial Register extract.
A current German Commercial Register extract normally contains information such as:
- the company name, registered office and registered business information,
- persons authorised to represent the company, such as managing directors, members of the management board or authorised signatories,
- information about the registered capital, where applicable,
- the legal form of the company,
- the date of the latest register entry, and
- information showing when the extract was generated.
The German Commercial Register provides three main types of extracts:
- Current Extract (Aktueller Abdruck – AD): shows the entries that are currently valid in the register.
- Chronological Extract (Chronologischer Abdruck – CD): shows the entries recorded since the register was converted to electronic form, including previous entries.
- Historical Extract (Historischer Abdruck – HD): contains older register information from the period before the transition to electronic register management.
If you require an official paper extract, certification or an apostille, additional processing and delivery time should be expected. The exact time depends on the document, the competent authority and the required authentication procedure.
Shareholder lists, information about company representatives, articles of association and other available corporate documents can also be ordered online. Electronic documents are normally provided by email when available.
