How can you quickly obtain information from the Bavaria Commercial Register?
There are 23 commercial registers in Bavaria. The register responsible for a particular company depends on its registered office. In the past, several registers were consolidated, but today there are 23 separate registers. It is also important to note that a company operating in Bavaria may have its registered office elsewhere in Germany.

What information is included in a Bavarian commercial register extract?
A Handelsregisterauszug, also known as an Ausdruck aus dem Handelsregister or commercial register extract, contains key information about a registered company. This normally includes the company name, registered activities and registered office, persons authorised to represent the company, such as managing directors, members of the management board and authorised signatories, the amount of share capital, the company’s legal form and the date of the latest register entry.
Following the introduction of the electronic commercial register in Bavaria in 2005, register documents are provided in official (amtlich) and non-official (nicht amtlich) form rather than being described simply as certified and uncertified extracts.
Which commercial register extracts can you order from Bavaria and other parts of Germany?
- A current commercial register extract (Aktueller Ausdruck) shows the information recorded in the register on the date of the request. It does not include deleted entries or explanatory information.
- A chronological commercial register extract (Chronologischer Ausdruck) contains the entries made since the register was converted to electronic form, including deleted entries, in chronological order from 2005 onwards.
- A historical commercial register extract (Historischer Ausdruck) contains scanned records from the former paper register before the transition to the electronic system. These documents generally relate to the period before 2005.
